As a senior developer at FedEx, I worked as a lead of an Agile scrum team. I worked with business and architects to understand requirements and refine features to be worked by the team. I take ownership of various features, leading the planning and implementation. I bring technical topics and best practices to the team for review and information sharing.
I designed and built several internal React web applications. These applications span from simple data input forms to complex geographical tools (using ArcGIS) that allowed users to create, edit, and save drawn coordinate areas.
I worked on a large-scale Android application (multiple teams working on the same codebase). These applications, in the hands of tens of thousands of FedEx drivers, are used for the full delivery and pickup workflow. I worked on barcode scanning, Bluetooth, label printing, and photo capture functionalities in addition to more standard design.
I developed and designed high volume Java (Spring Boot) microservices and distributed systems. I have built RESTful APIs, utilized async messaging (JMS), relational databases (Oracle), and noSQL databases (Redis and Cassandra).
I built Spring Boot starters, making it easier for our team to implement common boilerplate across our applications with simple configuration.
I inherited an application from another team and identified areas of improvement. I designed and proposed an application rewrite to business and architecture and was given the green light. We began using in-memory and Redis caching, we collapsed microservices that were too finely defined, and we applied compression before storing large blob data. The combined changes lowered the application footprint by 75%!
While I interned at DICK’S, I became part of the Agile team that developed the Android mobile app. There are a few things in the app today that I developed while I was an intern, so this was my first time actually affecting production code.
